I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break. The kids were ready to get to back to work today! Today we started a writing unit on fiction. We talked about fiction and nonfiction. We decided to write some fictional stories with animals as the character. Ask your child what their animal is? Have they named their animal? Can tthey tell you the who, where, what, why and when of their story? We will continue with these stories over the next few weeks.
I met with three guided reading groups. Ask your child if I met with their group today. The mini lesson for today was reading Froggie's Little Sister.
We talked about the who,where, when etc of the story. The author uses onomat0poeia in his writing. This is a term used to describe words that actually describe the noises they depict such as boom. Ask your child if they can remember some words they found. They will be using this in their own animal stories.Reading Logs......I anticipated some confusion this morning when reading logs were or were not handed in. I've decided to give another freebee for this log. Please remember that there is a log due this Friday also for this week.
